Private Dog Pool Hire in Swindon

The whole pool, just for you and your dog

Every session at Hounds & Waves is private hire. That means one booking in the water at a time, no other dogs, no strangers watching from the side, and no queue behind you. For a lot of dogs that is the difference between a good first experience and a frightening one, and for a lot of owners it is the difference between relaxing and spending the whole session managing everyone else.

The pool is indoors and heated, so a session is the same on a wet February morning as it is in July. You book a slot, you arrive, and the space is yours until your time is up. The pool is opening shortly, and the launch list is the way to get the first opening times.

You can get in with them

This is the part people are most surprised by. You are welcome to get into the water and swim with your dog rather than watching from the edge. Some dogs settle instantly with their person in the water, some owners simply want the experience, and either reason is a good enough reason.

If you would rather stay dry, that is completely fine too. Nobody is going to push you into the pool, and plenty of sessions are spent throwing a toy from the side while the dog does the swimming.

Who private hire suits

  • Nervous or reactive dogs who cannot cope with other dogs nearby. A private pool removes the thing they are worried about instead of asking them to tolerate it.
  • Two dogs from the same household who already know each other and swim better together.
  • Families who want to come as a group and make an occasion of it.
  • First timers who need to go at their own pace, with as much time on the steps as they need before anything else happens.
  • Older dogs who want a gentle swim without being bounced into by somebody else's puppy.

What is included

Every private hire session includes the heated indoor pool to yourselves, a gentle entry so your dog is never lifted or dropped in, a life jacket if one is wanted, a towel dry afterwards, and staff on hand throughout. Bring a towel of your own as well, plus any favourite toys that float. Every member of our team holds canine level 3 first aid.

We grab a photo moment where possible, because most people want one and nobody wants to be holding a phone over water. First time visitors get a treat for their dog, and there are dog essentials in reception if you have forgotten something.

Booking a private session

Sessions come as thirty minutes or a full hour. Every session is private, up to three dogs are welcome, and additional dogs start from five pounds each. Thirty minutes suits most single dogs, especially early on. An hour tends to suit two or three dogs, families, or anyone who wants a relaxed first visit without watching the clock.

Session details are on the prices page. The pool is opening shortly, so sessions are being taken through the launch list rather than the diary at the moment, and joining it is how you get first pick of opening times. If you are not sure which length suits your dog, ask us and we will tell you honestly rather than sell you the longer one.

Where to find us

We are on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in Swindon, an easy drive from across the town and from the surrounding Wiltshire towns. Directions and parking are on the find us page, and you can read more about the facility itself on our pool.
